Meet Haseeb Shinwary, Workforce Navigator Manager

Haseeb Shinwary has been the Primary Care Coalition’s Workforce Navigator Manager for the past seven months, preparing students in the PCC and Nexus Montgomery workforce capacity training program for job readiness. Program participants receive scholarships and support to train for healthcare positions (currently pharmacy or phlebotomy technicians or certified nursing assistants). Once they complete their studies, Shinwary helps participants with resumes, applications, and mock interviews so they can be hired for jobs in local hospitals and health agencies.

PCC's Strategic Plan Released

Our mission has not changed.

That was our first and most important strategic decision. Improving the health of vulnerable individuals and families by building partnerships and strengthening systems remains our mission.

The task of strategic planning is to answer a core question: How do we succeed in that mission, given the current environment?

Year-End Building, Together

We have big goals, and we can only achieve them together. As you make your year-end charitable gifts, we hope you’ll consider investing in our work to build a healthy, welcoming community for everyone.

This work is not about helping the less fortunate or even doing the right thing. It is about recognizing a fundamental truth: we all need community support. We all need each other. The vibrant community we envision—the one that supports all people in achieving healthy lives—can only be built together.

December Dental Event was a Success!

Thirteen residents of the Enclave Apartments in Silver Spring accessed mobile dental services on Wednesday, December 11th through a collaboration among Action in Montgomery (AIM), American Diversity Group (ADG), and the Primary Care Coalition (PCC). The event was part of an ongoing effort to provide mobile dental services to underserved residents with funding from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of California and affiliates.

Participants ranged in age from 25 to 75 and were primarily African immigrants. Many mentioned they had not visited a dentist in a long time, and they were happy to have this access opportunity within their own community. A key ingredient in that access was participants’ trust in the AIM outreach team who helped them enroll. In fact, the day’s no-show rate was zero: all individuals enrolled also participated. Those who need follow-up services have another mobile clinic visit scheduled in early January.

Meet December's Pet of the Month: Tess!

She is a cherished family member of Fareed Anjum, PCC’s Director of Data and Informatics. Tess is as charming and beautiful as she is calm and easygoing. Always happy and healthy, she’s the perfect companion, bringing a sense of peace wherever she goes. Tess has a special love for babies, creeks, lakes, and cold weather—especially snow, which she delights in munching on! She enjoys slow, leisurely walks around the neighborhood and spends her downtime perched on the porch, keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood and announcing the arrival of deliveries and guests.
